Release notes for January 23, 2021

Happy New Year loyal swimmers! We hope 2021 is treating you well so far. We know 2020 had a lot of ups and downs (let’s be honest…it was mostly downs) but here’s to a much better year! We’ve been hard at work ensuring we continue to bring you the thinkorswim experience you know and love and also added a few new features for you to try out. Without further ado, let’s dive into thinkorswim version 1967!

Sync Crosshair and Active Trader Ladder

As you remember, in our previous update we added the ability to snap your crosshair on the chart to either open, high, low, close, or OHLC.  We added something very similar with the active trade ladder.  Now when you hover on a price on the ladder, it will highlight the corresponding price on the chart. This can be toggled on/off by clicking the gear icon above the scroll bar on the active trader ladder, in the same menu where you can enable showing study values on the ladder.

Snap Quote

Another feature we have added is the ability to see the current last, last size, bid, bid size, ask, ask size, and volume right on the order confirmation dialogue screen.

If you have an account with real-time data, these values will stream in real time.

If you are on delayed data, the values will display the time the order confirmation box was opened, with the ability to refresh the quote.

Bridging the Gaps

As we work to bridge the gap between swimmers who have advanced features enabled versus those who don’t, we will continue to make changes that will help make those differences less noticeable.

This time around we made it so the pattern day trade counter will work for those without advanced features.

Strategies

PMOStrat

The PMO Strategy is based on the signals provided by the Price Momentum Oscillator. The Price Momentum oscillator is a study developed by Carl Swenlin and is essentially the one-bar rate of change (relative momentum) consequently smoothed by two exponential moving averages. The signal line is a third exponential moving average of the double-smoothed rate of change.

Bug Fixes

  • Some of you may have noticed that when you have the Activity and Positions tab detached that it was not switching accounts when toggling between more than one account. We noticed too, so now you can flip between your accounts and they won’t stick on a random account.
  • For those of you that changed your clock on thinkorswim to Eastern time, we fixed the annoying bug that would revert the clock back to local time after reloading the platform, despite Eastern still being selected.

That wraps it up for this release folks. We’ll continue working towards a better tomorrow, and as a famous blue fish once said “just keep swimming!”

Happy Trading,

The Support Team
