Greetings swimmers! Welcome to the first release of the new year. We’ve decided to start 2020 with a lot of behind the scenes work to improve on your thinkorswim experience. We’ve kept it short and sweet this time, so let’s just jump right in.
“Exclude” Option in Scan
Now, you can narrow your results more than ever by excluding a watchlist from a scan. To check out this feature, head over to Scan > Stock Hacker in thinkorswim. Pair this with your favorite filters and the recently added condition groups for maximum personalization.
Improved Symbol/Exchange Logic
You will now see designations for OTC and other US Exchanges in the symbol header.
Studies & Strategies
The Leavitt Convolution Slope study is a technical indicator designed by Jay A. Leavitt, PhD. Based on linear regression, this indicator extrapolates the linear regression of price for the next bar.
The Four-Day Breakout LE strategy is designed by Ken Calhoun.
The strategy adds a buy to open order if:
- Close price is greater than its simple moving average.
- There have been at least four consecutive bullish candles including the current one.
- Price rises by at least $0.50 above the high of the highest of these candles.
The strategy is thus based on the assumption that when such a pattern appears on the chart, the pressure is on the buyers' side and the trend is likely to continue. Moving average length, the minimum number of candles in the pattern, and the minimum buy stop offset can all be customized in the input parameters.
