The Calendar tab provides a centralized schedule of market events, including earnings reports, dividend announcements, conference calls, stock splits, economic releases, futures liquidations, and more. It offers a clear view of the past and upcoming activity.
Calendar navigation and controls
In the header, you will find key controls to navigate and customize the Calendar. Here is a breakdown of their functions:
- The Symbol Selector box helps pick the instrument shown on the calendar. Enter a symbol or pick one from the symbol selector by clicking on the triangle arrow. Keep the symbol selector empty to view all the available events.
- The gear icon " allows you to select a watchlist to populate the calendar with symbols from it. You can use generated watchlists with symbols in your account positions, your personal and public watchlists, industry groups, or categories such as Lovers and losers, Top 10, or Active on social. Select Clear filter to return to the default view.
- The clip icon S brings up a menu with color options to link your Calendar with other components using the same color. Each color in the menu shows the symbol currently linked to it, so you can quickly identify connections. Choose a color to create or update a link or select Unlink to remove it. When linked, selecting a symbol in one component updates the others automatically.
- The Today button can be used to set the calendar to the current date.
- The navigation arrows can be used to move the view backward and forward by one day, one week, or one month, depending on the current display mode.
- The date range label shows the active day, week, or month.
- The view selector in the top right corner can be used to switch between the display modes. Select Day, Week, Month, or List to choose the mode. Each mode changes how dates and events are organized and shown, helping you focus on the time span that suits your needs.
- The Show actions menu icon [ brings up a menu with commands for creating alerts, printing, exporting, taking screenshots, and detaching the Calendar into a separate window.
The pane on the left includes color-coded filters for event types such as Dividends, Earnings, Conference Calls, Splits, etc. Apply these filters to focus your calendar on the most relevant categories.
How to view and manage events
- Select any day on the calendar to reveal a list of events scheduled for that day in the panel below.
- For days with many events, the calendar shows grouped icons, while the event list breaks them down individually for easier review. The list displays key details including Time, Symbol, Event type, and Description.
- Choose an event from the list to open the details panel where you can learn more about the event and set up alerts.
- Customize alerts in the details panel to receive notifications via sound, email, or mobile whenever certain events occur.
- Choose the event types to display by applying filters in the left-side.
Creating alerts for events
- Click the Show actions menu icon [ in the top right corner and select Create alert on event… The Create Alert on Calendar Event window will open.
- In the Notify me on dropdown, select Calendar event if it’s not already active.
- Adjust the Notify list to specify when the alert should be sent. You can choose to be notified at the event time or in advance.
- Use the Event type list and the Symbol field to narrow focus on one event type/company. Leave the Symbol field blank to include all symbols.
- Choose whether to be notified of any event or specific events only using the items in the list below.
- Enter a note in the provided field, if needed. Under Notify with, select one or more delivery methods: sound, email, text message, or push notification to mobile devices.
- Expand the Options area to configure submission and expiration times for alerts, either immediately or at a specified date and time. Set the reminders to notify you a selected number of days before an alert expires. You can also choose to repeat notifications at the event time.
- Click Create.
